My Black Heart (A Poem)

My black heart

Beats

For black love

To be carried by black feet

Up, up, up into the folly of love

And the divine

My black heart

Sings

For black love

For uncovered touches, glances

Kisses from white teeth

And warm breath like licorice

My black heart

Prays

That your black heart

Stays

Gentle, vulnerable

Anchored in the enduring expressions of ancestral love
